PLAANT The Amaio Technology

Inside Plaant

Eight modules of Plaant 3.0 encapsulate a wide variety of functionalities including legacy integration, ETL, and workflow. The modules' set up for the development project depends on the customer's requirements and it can be freely modified if the business needs change over time.

Data Mill
Data Mill is the heart of the Plaant suite. It provides GUI for users' access to the functionality of Plaant applications. Data Mill also secures most of generic functionality such as creating, editing, sorting, searching, filtering, and removing records. In the same time, by means of Data Mill the end users access proprietary custom functionality of their Plaant applications. Last but not least Data Mill the end users benefit from a large variability of individual settings of system desks, graphical interface, and views of the application data.
User Management
The User Management unit provides the Plaant systems with the multiuser capabilities. The access rights can be assigned on the level of system desks, forms, records, fields, individual functions of application logic, and - in connection with States & Processes unit Ð also according to the record state. The unit comes with the two-mode tool for administration of user accounts. The simple mode facilitates routine administration duties. The complex mode enables the administrator to control the account structure on the low level and execute uncommon operations.
Forms/Exports
The Forms/Exports provide (by means of Plugins) print services and capabilities of exporting the data from Plaant applications into various data formats. The Forms unit has been built on the XSL-FO standard. This widely recognized format guarantees high flexibility of data outputs and its acceptability by other applications. Forms/Exports come with generic exports to csv, xml, and raw pdf formats.
States & Processes
The States & Processes unit enable the Plaant applications to evolve along the time axis and comprise successive steps of the processes they support. A state diagram can be attached to each application desk to govern life cycle of its records and to rule associated access rights. E.g. the document management system can be built on Plaant that secures the flow of the documents through a number of departments in an organization. Along the activity chain the documents are created, edited, approved, coupled, and archived. They are always available only to the users that ÒownÓ the activity. The users are notified about waiting documents, approaching deadlines, etc.
ETL
The Extract-Transform-Load unit secures complex batch processing of input and output data in Plaant applications. The unit is open to unlimited variety of uses, e.g. sharing data among several applications, collecting data from web pages or cleaning data during application upgrades. So called ETL modules maintain reading appropriate data records from Plaant application or other source(s), their processing according to specified rules, and sending the output data into specified destination(s). The destination can be a Plaant application, printer, external data source or more of them simultaneously. ETL modules are software components tailored above the open ETL API. Intuitive development tool provides the Plaant programmer with the user-friendly environment for modelling data processes.
Web Publishing
Data from Plaant applications can be posted online on web pages via Web Publishing unit. Both http and secured https protocols are available for publishing.
Legacy Integration
Third party applications can access Plaant system services in real time by means of Legacy Integration unit. Legacy Integration is used whenever Plaant application is to be closely interconnected with surrounding systems or integrated in portal applications.
Plugins for Forms/Exports and ETL
Amaio Technologies supplies various ready to use components to Plaant Forms/Exports and ETL units. Available are modules for professional output in pdf and rtf, data import and export, access to data through TSP/IP or collaboration with relational databases.
